Schooners sailing near Swans Island
Anchored in Burnt Coat harbor, the schooners start to arrive to spend the night ad allow the passengers to attend the Sweet Chariot Music Festival.
Lewis French arrives
Heritage arrives.
Sweet Chariot Music Festival performers greet the arriving boats with song and merriment as they weave thru the anchor field. A prelude to what we will see tonight.
We left Swans Island for a leisurely cruise to Mt Desert, arriving early, we decided to run up Somes Sound.
Cruised up to Somes Sound, a natural Fiord in Arcadia, it is about 9 miles in and deep all the way. This sound was cut by the glaciers during the ice age.
This island marks a split at the end of the sound in two channels, heading to an abrupt end. There is a yacht club to port that we will reconnoiter.
Leaving the Yacht club we head to Northeast Harbor to spend the night.
A magnifient sailboat tacking up the sound.
